It was an IVR Automated call and you had 2 options to choose from i.e., Press 1 if you recognize the scheduled charge of XXXXX going to and Press 2 if you do not recognize the scheduled charge. And we got 1 as a response from your registered phone number.

So now According to the United States Banking Regulation Act once the scheduled charge is authorized through customers registered phone numbers it can never be disputed or cancelled. So, are you sure that you did not authorize this scheduled charge this morning around 3.35 AM.?

 

Customer: We were sleeping at that time. I did not authorize any charge.

DUPLICATE CHARGES:

In banking a duplicate charge is something when the charge is made for the same product, of the same amount, at the same time, and with the same merchant, (give example)

(For an example, sometimes while doing online shopping, due to server error we get charged twice for a single product)

 

So, if we are able to set up a duplicate charge it will help us to put a hold on both the charges. This duplicate charge enables us to send a confirmation to the customer whether he or she wants both the charges to go through or 1 should go through or none of them should go through so according to the response we proceed further.

Now as you know that this transaction was not authorized by you, hence we will have to create this encrypted duplicate charge so when we do it, we will have the right to cancel the fraudulent charge made by the hackers and reverse the charge made by you so that you would not lose anything and you will get all your money back.
